Insight Cable Service Interrupted
Monday evening and Tuesday morning saw a service outage for Insight Communications cable subscribers in Kentucky, Ohio , and Indiana. The 1,225,800 subscribers of cable service were told that Insight Communications was “working hard” to restore service as quickly as possible. Customer service call centers for Insight Communications were overloaded most of the morning on Tuesday. After this outage, many customers are outraged and Insight Communications will have to do some debt survival work to survive.
Frozen signal on Insight Communications screens
Customers who turned their TV on in the morning in Central Kentucky and some other Insight Communications service areas saw nothing but a frozen picture from the night before. A malfunctioning server in Louisville, KY caused the interrupted signal. Some customers were only getting a selection of digital cable channels. Other customers were seeing frozen pictures from broadcasts sent out the night before.
Request to not call the Insight Communications call center
On the Insight Communications’ blog, the CEO of Insight requests that customers not call the call center. The three-state service operates only two customer support numbers. Even with a fully staffed customer service call center, calls from hundreds of thousands of customers are collapsing the Insight Communications phone lines. The company claims to be “working diligently” to fix the problem as soon as possible.
Phone and internet service unaffected
Insight Communications’ cable service appears to be the only service directly affected by the server issues in Louisville. A few customers report Insight Communications phone and internet service “blipping” – going off and the back on. More likely than not, the outages of Insight Communications other services are an effect of trying to fix the frozen cable issue.
No estimates for return of Insight Communications cable
Insight Communications has not currently offered any estimates of when cable service might return. Some customers are reporting outages that have lasted as long as 5 to 7 hours. Local news websites and the Insight CEO blog are set to provide updates on the status of service.
